Hiens Tile and Stone Supports our Youth and Youth Sports

RiverdogsAD-HTS

Our Kids and Youth are our Future, and Hiens Tile and Stone are making an investment in our future by supporting Youth Sports in and around Central Kentucky.  Youth Sports are known to build leadership skills and the teamwork needed to survive and be a strong citizen in today's competitive work environment.

Leadeship developoment has never been this important, as natiowide polls are showing that the current adult generation have a bleak outlook on our future and expect current youth to be worst off than adults of today.  Additionally, the US is losing ground economically, educationally, and socially to many other countries.

Leaders aren't born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through work

No Texting While Driving - I feel safer Already

Where do I send my fine payment? Well, where to begin.  The Kentucky legislature passed House Bill 415 and Governor Beshear Signed the the bill into law, therefore it's official.  Now, for those that have not been paying attention, this Bill does three main things.

  1. It redefines some portions of KRS 216.712, which relates to Personal Service Agencies.  Honestly, I would need to read up and research that particular piece of regulation to know exactly how it's being changed.
  2. Makes it illegal to "Text" while operating a Motor vehicle (Driving).
  3. Makes it Illegal for those under 18 to us a Hand Held Cell Phone while driving.

I'm sure many will ask:

"What's the Big Deal"

If texting while driving is really that "Unsafe", I'm pretty sure we already had a few laws on the books, which coverred the dangerous/Unsafe driving.  Reckless Driving comes to mind first, because it pretty much covers all types of driving that is not safe and normal.  Therefore, if Texting causes you to weave, drive to fast, or just generally be unaware and dangerous, odds are you are Driving Recklessly.  Why do we need to specify Texting and Driving, it just doesn't make sense to me.

Ipad, hit or Iflop

This past Saturday, Apple released it's latest gadget, the Ipad. I've read article after article stating that nearly all locations selling this new gadget had a line or waiting list for the chance to purchase one of these on it's initial release. However, I have not heard of any shortages, and just about everyone who wanted one could buy one. Also, upon a quick check on Ebay, I see the usual suspects selling ipads at inflated prices, but not many individuals doing this, to me this means the demand is not there yet.

For example with every version of the Iphone, Apple has run out of stock at many locations the weekend of it's initial release. This has not occurred for the Ipad.

Personally, I would love the opportunity to give a quality review of this product, but can't justify buying one, and without some good sponsors, I don't see me buying one anytime soon. And here is why.

Loose Gravel Hoax

loose_gravel_2Well many times as we drive through Lexington highways and byways we sometimes overlook the many warning signs that are placed there for our protection.  For example if you have driven around Lexington’s downtown area you have noticed the many detours, sewer and waterline construction that takes place overnight.  The next morning during your normal morning commute you will be riddled with detours, temporary roadway and long delays.  Now if the contractor performing this “Improvement” was following the correct guidelines provided by state and local authorities they would appropriately have to install signage to properly maintain traffic during construction periods.
