Kholster - IWB Holster

Recently, I was in the market for a new concealment holster for one of my handguns.  I knew I must frst determine what style I wanted.  Did I want an Outside the Waist Band (OWB), Inside the Waist Band (IWB), Leather, Kydex, plastic, or a Hybrid (combination leather and kydex or plastic).  I have always used and liked pure leather holsters, but decided for this holster, I wanted to try something a little different.  Therefore, I determined I wanted the following.

• IWB
• Tuckable (because my normal attire includes a lot of tucked in shirts)
• Hybrid Kydex and Leather (Kydex is not as hard on the finish of the handgun as plastic)

With that set of criteria, I really narrowed down my options to these three options.  Comp Tac, Crossbreed, and Kholster seemed to be the top three IWB Hybrid makers.  Being a fruegal shopper, I was quite intrigued by the Kholster, due to it's price and marketing practices.

The Kholster was over $20 cheaper than it's closest comepetition and included Free Shipping anywhere in the Continental US.  On top of that, they offer two different discount rates.  The First Rate is a 10% Discount code which all  customers get and can share with friends, the second discount is 25% for repeat customers.  To me, this sounded like a great deal, so it was time to determine exactly what model I needed, so I did the logical thing and sent an email to Jimmy the owner/Head Honcho at Kholster LLC.

Initially, I thought I wanted the larger "Full Moon" Model, because it works for All sizes of Springfield XD from the Sub Compact 3" Barrrel to the Full Sized Tactical 5" Barrel.  After talking with Jimmy, I was convinced this was what I wanted and proceeded to order the holster and even found a 10% Discount Code.  These holsters are all hand made and built to order, therefore I was quoted a 7 day build time and delivery after that.  To my surprise, 6 days later, my holster was deliverred.  Good Price and quick delivery, so far I'm impressed and haven't even checked the fit with my handgun yet.

Now, it's time to fit and adjust to my prefered carry location and cant.  Upon initial fit, I notice the kydex portion is larger than I expected and nearly 2" longer than my Sub Compact model.  No Big deal though, it was what I ordered.  After a couple of adjustments to the Sturdy metal belt clips, I have it adjusted to my preferred carry location.  This provided my second problem.  When adjusted for a Low waistband carry position, I determine that I have some trouble holstering the weapon.  Therefore, I decided to adjust the weapon UP one notch, which eliminated the holstering problem.

After a couple of days of use, I determined that "I" Ordered the wrong model.  I should have ordered the "Crescent" Model which is specifically for the shorter barrel.  This is because the extra Kydex that extends beyond the end of the barrel would protrude into my pants and would eventually wear a hole in my pants.  As I looked at it, it's just Kydex (similar to Plastic), I have a new dremmel tool that my wife bought me for Christmas that I'm wanting to use and I can easily trim off the excess kydex and fix the holster.  Before I start cutting on my investment, I decided to contact Jimmy again and see if he has any recommendations.

Immediately, I let him know that I received exactly what I ordered and I'm pleased with what I received.  I just wanted to change it to make it better for my needs.  Jimmy said, if it's not been modified yet, just send it back and he'll send me a new custom "cresent" which should not olnly fix the length problem, but would have some extra coverage around the top of the handgun to allow a deeper carry position and not have any trouble with reholstering the weapon.   This is truly amazing that a small business is going so far out of their way to keep me happy and correct a Mistake the "I" made when ordering.  I let Jimmy of Kholster LLC know that I was going to try and sell my original Full Moon Holster first, but if I couldn't sell it quick, I would send it back to him.  I really preferred to sell it than send it back, because I didn't want Kholster to eat the expense for my mistake.

Within a couple of days, I had a buyer for my original holster.  And a few days later, my new Custom Crescent Kholster arrives.  Just as  expected, quality is great, and has more coverage at the top, and is shorter at the barrel.

At this point, I cannot be happier with my experience with Jimmy and Kholster LLC.  I definetly recommend this holster to anyone looking for a nice concealable IWB holster.  While it is not the nicest looking option, it is truly utilitarian and comfortable to wear.  If you decide to purchase, be sure and use a Discount Code to maximize the value.
